PostHeaderIcon Road Trip! Summer 2009

This summer I took road trips though the desert southwest of Arizona and California, from the urban desert of Phoenix, to the high deserts of southern California. I visited my friend Caylyn (GreatGig1) several times, who for over a year now, has been teaching me how to edit videos (I’m a very slow learner!). This video is dedicated to her, thanking her for all her patience and time, teaching me to make better videos and sparking my interest in creating music and art again. wow. . . thanks for the comment on the editing. I watch your stuff for editing! lol you get videos right, don’t worry about that.

  • andymooseman says:

Sounds good to me & what a great area to cover :)

  • illegalsmilereturns says:

Very nicely done! It was a pleasure to watch. The editing made me kind of jellous cause it was fantastic. Cheers. One day I might actualy get a video right lol.

those dogs were a whole other great side story, btw.

. . . you realize that it’s required of every band in the state to know “Hotel California” and they’ve all performed a 1000s of times. Overall the band was pretty good and they did some original stuff that was better that the “gig music” they were paid for. The obligatory girl with a joan jett haircut. . .

looks like it was a blast :) love the grotto and the furry tree and as much as i am a sea girl, i thought the scenery was LOVELY :)

  • snarkdetriomphe says:

those dogs weren’t buying those fake Eagles either. . . the girl was a dead giveaway ;)

  • snarkdetriomphe says:

all those fans and its STILL 110 every day there hehe

It actually several trips starting in June and was great traversing the desert in the summer but oasis or a ramada respites are a requirement!

I drive in an area about a 500-700 mile radius from Phoenix a lot and that covers an area including southern Rocky Mountains, the Continental Divide as well as desert and lakes with water! The camera has become a constant companion on these trips now.

  • andymooseman says:

That looked like a great trip.
I loved that tree & i expect you’d need a nice little oasis like that to eacape some of the summer heat :)

  • jrsnyderjr says:

Thanks for the compliments on the editing, it’s taken me awhile to grasp a lot of it. Great way to describe it! I like that.

That guy was a safe distance but kind of wandering in a general area and I wondered what would happen if I happened to video while one went astray, hitting some object, ricocheting. . .

  • OhCurt says:

Intriguing looking tree in that little oasis!
Not that you and Caylyn aren’t also interesting. :-)

Okay, that guy whipping his balls around is making me nervous.
    !!!

  • jrsnyderjr says:

You know each time I was there the weather was cooler than normal. . . actually all the deserts this side of the Continental Divide were fairly cool most of this summer. Nice area there, as you know.

    Hey thanks on the editing. Caylyn has been a very good mentor. ;~}
