    The Egypt Game
Imagine your mother being a super star, but imagen paying the consequences of fame. So now imagen having to go live with your grandmother forever! To not see what was your life back then and your growing up time! Now April (main character) is “fashion”. She is a very high class girl but high class people always turned out to be the total opposite.

April meets this girl named Melanie who lives in the same apartment. They become best friends, and then they become best friends with another girl named Elizabeth. April and Melanie seem to see very pashion for some thing or place, Egypt.
So they become to lovers of Egypt and they invent a game called Egypt. And at first the members of the Egypt Game are only April, Melanie, and Marshall (Melanie’s little brother), but then things start to change and so on.

The books author is called Zilpha K. Shyder. Form my view she is a very bad auther. She gives to many un important details and she doesn’t have good word choice. I think that this book doesn’t have a good lead to the story. For me the character dosen’t have a mystery in the begging so it dose not have a mission impossible to solve to get to the next level. I would say that kids will actually hate this book, to be honest.

I was disappointed when I received the book the dust jacket was ripped.
It was even more annoying because I had bought the books as a gift for the students at the Appleton Vilage School in Appleton, Maine, to be read for the Battle of the Books.

This book caught my attention because we are studying Egypt. Instead of an insightful, thought provoking fiction, it proved to be a negative inticement for young readers. Children, be careful what you read and what you watch. Being intrigued by the darker side of things is understandable, but it is dangerous and unwise. My concern is that our society is embracing what my generation would never have tolerated. It is not the book itself that is so scarry, but it is that parents are allowing their children to absorb the ideas, values, and practices of books like Harry Potter and The Egypt Game. We must set a higher standard for our children. If no goal is set, it is sure to be obtained.

The language is a little out dated, as this book was written in 1967. Nonetheless, it’s heart is in the right place and it is still a delightful fantasy / fiction story for kids.

A few years back I read this for literature circles in my class. There was maybe 4 or 5 other kids in my group. We all were completely lost and could not stand to read the book any longer! Our teacher ended up just letting us stop because it was so horrible! I would never recommend this book! It is the most confusing thing, and I really found the plot itself kind of dumb.
